PRO CONTOURS Training Academy by Santa Kalnina is one of the leading and most experienced semi permanent makeup academies in the UK.

Our Semi-Permanent Makeup course will provide beginners in permanent makeup with in depth knowledge in eyebrow, lip and eyeliner tattooing along with all necessary skills to perform these treatments to meet different needs of clients. In the recent years demand for SPMU and microblading courses have increased dramatically due to growing popularity of these treatments.

The semi-permanent makeup field has evolved to the extent that it can present the most natural looking  and undetectable results that are also long lasting. This combination makes the SPMU field a growing and desirable industry to build a career. The profession of a permanent makeup artist is very lucrative and anyone with determination can build a highly profitable business in this field.

Beginner SPMU Courses

Our range of beginner SPMU courses will suit students who want to either learn just one treatment area, for example, eyebrows,  or a combination of treatments to offer full range of SPMU services. Microblading and Lip blush the are most popular courses for those students who prefer to learn one treatment area, as they are the two most sought after treatments and is sufficient to form a viable business.

For someone wanting to offer full range of services Full SPMU course, covering all treatments performed with a SPMU machine, would be the most suitable option. In addition, Microblading course, where treatment is performed with manual microblading tools, would be a good option to consider doing due to popularity of this treatment.

SPMU Course

How to become a SPMU artist?

To become a SPMU or microblading artist, there is no pre-requisites to enrol on accredited SPMU course. Anyone without a beauty therapy background, can learn and become an SPMU artist.

There are different types of education to learn SPMU skills. We are going to highlight two common routes for  becoming SPMU artist.

  1. SPMU and Microblading courses thought as a VTCT Level 4 Diploma across beauty colleges. To enrol on Level 4 courses one must hold Level 2 & 3 Diploma in beauty therapy. While going  down the collage route can indicate a greater understanding around the beauty and  SPMU or microblading fields, it will take several years for someone without a beauty background to become qualified in SPMU or microblading.
  2. SPMU and Microblading courses thought as a qualification by privately run companies or individuals who hold relevant certifications in SPMU or microblading alongside teaching diplomas. These types of courses tend to be fast track courses and are more skills based with more specific theoretical knowledge.

While both routes are government recognised and accredited for insurance and license purposes (exclusions may apply across some London boroughs), it comes down to individual to choose the most suitable training for their circumstances.

How long will it take to become a qualified SPMU artist?

As an industry standard, it will take 2 days training for in-person class in microblading or lip blush and 5-7 days for full SPMU course in lips, eyebrows and eyeliner. By the end of a course, training provider will issue an attendance certificate followed by completion certificate once student has submitted case studies/model work pictures and videos. After the course, in average, 5 models are needed, to show good standard of work and qualify. It mainly depends on the student, how long this will take, but normally it is 1-3 months timeline.

What qualifications do I need to become a SPMU artist?

To become a SPMU artists no previous qualifications or background in beauty industry is needed. Many of our students come from different professional backgrounds with no previous beauty experience, and become successful SPMU artists.

What SPMU treatments are most popular?

The most popular and profitable SPMU treatments are microblading and lip blush, offering the highest profit per treatment, followed by powder brows and eyeliner.

What SPMU equipment do I need?

SPMU artist needs a SPMU machine , that is similar to tattoo artist’s machine, but more advanced, range of needle cartridges, and pigments. These all will be provided to students in the starter kit.
